Laser Tag Convention 2009 Golden Phaser Award Winners
The International Laser Tag Association is proud to announce the winners of the 2009 Golden Phaser Awards! Special thanks go out to all the nominees for their excellent submissions.
Below are the entries that were selected for the winner in each catagory.
Best Briefing Video
Winner: A New World Laser Tag - Kristie Gracie, Middletown, CT
The style and professional feel of this briefing video is one of the best we've ever seen. The rules of play were both clever and entertaining plus the excitement never let up. Click the video below to see why this one was a cut above the rest.
Best TV/Cable Commercial
Winner: Laser Island - Doug Hornecker, Upland, CA
When you only have 30-60 seconds to advertise your business to the public, every second counts. All the entries into this catagory were excellent and we spent the most time deciding the winner here. In the end, Laser Island's commercial stood out just enough to give it the edge and take the golden phaser. Congratulations Laser Island. Click the video below to watch their commercial.
Best Print Ad
Winner: Lazer Traxx - Brian Anderson, Loveland, CO
For many operators, summer is the slowest season for business. Creating the right type of advertising can be especially difficult to bring in additional revenue. Lazer Traxx's ad had a few great qualities that made it stand out from the other submissions. We thought the use of colors and unique Pyramid Punch special were great ideas. Best Website
Winner: Fun Junction - Brian Jackson, Cicero, NY
Of all the submissions, this catagory received the most entries. We enjoyed looking through everyone's websites and seeing all the work that went into each design. This was another difficult catagory for us to decide on. Ease of navigation, target audience focus, representation of the industry, and use of colors and imagery were huge factors in making our decision. Ultimately, we felt Fun Junction's website captured all these qualities most effectively. Click on the image below to check out Brian Jackson's website for his locations.
Operator of the Year
This annual award honors a facility owner or operator who exemplifies not only quality in their facility, but also has used their knowledge and abilities to improve the quality of life for his/her employees and the local community at large. This decision was so split between the staff here that we are proud ot announce that there are two winning operators for this catagory!
Winner: Randall Briggs - Shadowland, Columbia, MD
Co-winner for Operator of the Year award goes to Randall Briggs of Shadowland. Running 4 locations is no simple task. Running them well enough to open a fifth location in a tough economy is even more outstanding. With his hands-on ownership style, well trained employees, new website, and dedication to always keeping in step with what's going on in the industry, it's no wonder why Randall was nominated for Operator of the Year.
From our experiences, ILTA Member visits to Shadowland always return excellent reviews. Randall's never too busy to come out of the office and help his guests. His approachability has created an atmosphere where the employees feel both comfortable and taken care of. He even has local competitions between his four locations to help boost employee camaraderie and unity.
For his dedication to his staff and his customers, we welcome Randall Briggs as the ILTA Operator of the Year.
Winner: Davor Franicevich - Laser Tag of Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge, LA
Co-winner for Operator of the Year award goes to Davor Franicevich for his charitable donations and community involvment. Laser Tag of Baton Rouge has provided in-house funding for Cancer Services, donating both money and time transporting cancer patients to their doctors appointments. They also provide a meeting room for their local Louisiana DARE Program and sit on the buiness committee as members of the Baton Rouge Chamber.
Davor's facility has donated over $12,000 in both money and merchandise towards helping their community to meet important needs. For these reasons, we salute Laser Tag of Baton Rouge and its owner as the ILTA Operator of the Year.
